The GWR locomotive works seemed to form the very heart of Swindon, and when closure was announced in 1985 it caused a massive stir, despite having been long expected. Swindon Viewpoint initiated and recorded this public debate. As well as raising the issues and climate of the period, it provides an insight to many of the town's characters at the time, including the two most recent M.P.s This is a long programme and takes a few moments to load.
