Victoria Road, Hospital Carnival Week parade, 1940

The parade to mark the start of Hospital Carnival Week that year started at the Town Hall and was heading up Victoria Road to the Town Gardens. It was led by the Swindon Prospect Silver Band, headed by the Mayor of Swindon (Cllr H.R. Hustings). The parade included members of the AFS (Auxiliary Fire Service), St John Ambulance, Red Cross, ARP Services, ex-servicemen, Sea Cadets and the Boy Scouts.
