This old Swindon building, No 16 Fleet St, remains visible in a seemingly unlikely position above the Walkabout Australian Bar. Look closely and you will discover a wealth of architectural detail, particularly fronting Bridge Street

Station Road - Whitehouse Public House 1920

The name was changed from The Queens Arms to The Whitehouse in 1910. Ushers brewery took over as owners in 1918. The pub was turned into an Irish theme pub recently, then demolished a few years back to make way for these flats

Regent Street - Hyslops Opticians1920

Note the giant spectacles over the entrance. The business still trades as Hyslop and Leighton in Wood Street Old Town. Though this particular store has been through several roles, it is once again a (different) opticians
